Spring, is it Here Yet?

Depends on what day you check the thermometer. Even though we like to think Spring means exclusively warm, sunny days, that is not real true Spring weather. After all, according to the saying, April showers bring May flowers. Today, it is a typical Spring day in Kentucky, sunny and warm this morning, cool and rainy this afternoon. Today is a good day to create your own Spring Flowers card.

Spring is in Full Bloom – Judy Everett

Using the dies from Sizzix’s Wildflower Stems 1 & 2 to cut out flowers was a breeze. I colored the flowers using mica sprays and alcohol inks. Seeing the Tangled Twigs die in my stash, I realized I could create
a dimensional lattice look that would allow me to weave in the long stemmed flowers. To hold all the flowers in place, I applied liquid glue with a thin nozzle.

To finish, I adhered the textured twigs and flowered base to a solid green piece of cardstock to create a finished greeting card. The Once Upon a Spring rubber stamp came from Once Upon a Springtime set from Graphic 45.

I’m entering this card in the Spring is in Full Bloom Challenge! over at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Hop on over to check out the other entries.

Don’t forget to comment and let me know you stopped by. I love seeing comments and hellos from everyone.

Thanks for stopping by to see my creations.

New Year, New Attitude

I don’t make New Year Resolutions. I have made resolutions in the past, but it was more of a nod to peer pressure, an answer to “What are your New Year Resolutions?” So I made a few frivolous resolutions that even though weren’t really serious, I still felt like a failure when I didn’t follow through.

This year is different. No, I’m not making New Year Resolutions but I am copping a new attitude.
I’ve been in a pretty low place most of 2015 and especially since early November. I’ve let things get under my skin. I’ve let negativity invade my life. I’ve been angry about things that were out of my control.

Some things I won’t be able to change. I’ve been a paraplegic for 39 years. Aching shoulders and lower back pain make using my wheelchair more difficult. Things don’t come as easy for me as they did 15 years ago. Simply picking something up off the floor is a three-step-process. Getting a shower and dressing take about 30 minutes longer than it did 3 or 4 years ago. The thing that bothers me the most, I’M NOT THAT OLD. I can’t de-age and I can’t stand the thought of any more surgeries.

2016 is a time for me take control of my thoughts. Time to find the courage I seem to have misplaced. To find the positive attitude that evaded me for most of 2015. It is a time for a new attitude.
Goodbye 2015, hello 2016. And to myself, “Welcome back Judy! You may have momentary setbacks or even days of lapsing in to frustration, but you will find your way.”

I created this tag using a combination of Artistic Outpost stamps (Picture Star set), Prima flowers, and Tim Holtz die cuts and embossing folders.
